In
2004, This Old House decided to include a dedicated home theater
in their featured project. They consulted with Goodwins High End
in Boston, who urged them to specify ASC IsoWall for structural
sound conditioning and soundproofing. The footage made it into an
episode of "Inside This Old House" on the Arts & Entertainment
Network.
That
got the attention of the crew of This Old House and they zoomed
in on soundproofing. New information about construction and remodeling
is important, especially when it comes to the concept of "High
End Soundproofing".
They shot the full explanation of the ASC IsoDamp
wall and ceiling systems from a very experienced sales guy at Goodwins,
one of ASC's oldest dealers. The topic of sound conditioning and
soundproofing was discussed at length. The discussion covered suspending
the home theater walls and ceiling from the rest of the structure
using IsoWall and IsoCeiling.
This gives excellent soundproofing and isolation.
Then they discussed the addition of damping materials (WallDamp)
to the suspended walls and ceiling so as to calm them down when
high power audio is present. This level of remodel detail was fascinating
to the crew. They had never thought of damping a soundproofing project
so the soundproofed room sounds good inside.
